Sports Can Change Lives
People who participate in sports have higher self-esteem or general self-worth and gain the confidence necessary to meet new challenges. For females in particular, participating in sports has benefits beyond simply staying physically fit. Through athletics, girls have better images of their own bodies, higher levels of self-esteem and more trust for others, in both genders, sports are a way to release aggression, gain a sense of accomplishment, feel a sense of belonging, and learn how to work with others in a team setting. These are excellent transferable skills that can enhance academics, relationships, and ultimately productivity in the workplace.
Athletics can be a stepping stone on the path to lifelong success: high school and elementary school students who learn how to strive for good grades and compete for college athletic recruiters are often set up to win in life, period.
